UMBILICAL is a performative art installation being showcased in its first open rehearsal for a critical audience at Teatro Thalia, Lisboa.

“Two bodies cannot occupy the same space”: it is this Principle of Impenetrability that drives the artistic installation, which uses the body, dance, and the audience as instruments to represent the interests that shape war.

Set within a gallery space and connected by ropes, these social groups act and react according to the occupying forces of a central area, only to discover that what unites them is stronger than what separates them — in a project where the audience surrounds the performers and can interact with the movements of this web of conflict.
