ADVERSA is currently working with Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Portugal on the early development of a new European film exhibition programme, conceived to operate across Portugal from 2027

The initiative is being developed as a wider platform for film programming and circulation, extending beyond the concentrated format of a single festival. At this initial stage, the programme is being shaped in dialogue with a group of European festivals that includes the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Vienna Shorts and Reykjavík International Film Festival, bringing together different approaches to contemporary cinema.

The project will be organised by ADVERSA with the support of the international platform established through BIOGRAF — International Film & Moving Arts Festival. Its second edition, held in Vila Nova de Cerveira in 2026, brought together 75 films from 40 countries and 28 invited guests, consolidating a network of filmmakers, programmers, institutions, film schools and festivals which can now inform a programme conceived on a national rather than exclusively local scale.

Creative Europe is the European Union's programme dedicated to supporting the cultural and creative sectors, with its MEDIA strand specifically focused on cinema and the audiovisual industries. Creative Europe Desk Portugal, locally known as the Centro de Informação Europa Criativa, supports professionals working within these fields and promotes cooperation and access to European networks and opportunities.

The initiative is expected to launch in 2027.
