No truce with the furies

In 2025, ADVERSA collaborated with ZA/UM and ZA/UM Atelier on Furies, providing creative direction and original artwork for a series of photographic sessions centred on clothing developed from the world of Disco Elysium.

The campaign treated the garments as physical extensions of that fictional universe. Through photography and art direction, ZA/UM Atelier's pieces were placed within imagery that carried the theatrical and often unsettling character of Disco Elysium. ADVERSA developed the visual direction around the collection, working with clothing rooted directly in the game's characters and visual culture.

That connection between fiction and physical form sits at the centre of ZA/UM Atelier. Established in 2021, the Atelier produces unisex clothing and objects based on the characters, themes and aesthetics of Disco Elysium. ZA/UM describes the idea as “fiction made fabric”, with each piece designed to exist as clothing in its own right while retaining a clear connection to the game.

The game follows a detective who arrives in the fractured city of Revachol with almost no memory of his own identity. Much of its structure is built around dialogue, internal thought and political tension, with psychology taking the place of many systems associated with traditional role-playing games. Its reception was immediate: at The Game Awards 2019, Disco Elysium won Best Narrative, Best Independent Game, Best Role-Playing Game and Fresh Indie Game. The following year, it received BAFTAs for Debut Game, Narrative and Music, as well as the D.I.C.E. Award for Outstanding Achievement in Story.
